Its really not that bad

This Film Deserves a positive review
It has some holes, but none that detract from the story in anyway that would make it incoherent. I found this film pretty good and engaging (if not a little rushed once the slashees begin to meet their fate.)
There are plenty of red herrings along the way, enough to keep me guessing and reguessing... til more or less the end.
When Craven is writing, you're always going to get more that the standard hack and slash film, there is so much more going on within the Story, just seems that there wasn't room for everything at once.
Maybe take a step back, enjoy the mystery rather than the (surprising) lack of gore.....
Its not 'A Nightmare on Elm St' (1984) but its still better than most of the mindless 'horror' flicks about these days....- Was this review helpful to you?

(88)Pooer Wes he has lost it
By open (255 reviews) , 27 May 2013Not scary, not interesting and a shameful Wes Craven film. Its a typical slasher 1 by 1 murder type film but the teens were utterly annoying and you wanted them all to die FAST! 2/5- Was this review helpful to you?

Take 'My Soul to Take' Away...now.
By Davidd (75 reviews) from South London , 19 Sep 2012For every NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET and SCREAM, Wes Craven gives us a DEADLY FRIEND and, er, VAMPIRE IN BROOKLYN. MY SOUL TO TAKE is definitely in the latter category. Competently put together but utterly pointless, this really only works as a teen slasher for an audience who haven't yet seen the many better films that inspired it (although the teen audience won't get access to it because of the - unjustified - 18 cert).
Really poor effort shot in a flat made for TV style that wrings every last drop of potential atmosphere out of the thing.
My advice - avoid.- Was this review helpful to you?

For a Wes Craven.. very disappointing!
By a customer , 17 Jun 2012Very disappointing for a Wes Craven film, I expected a lot more with it being one of his. Sadly it has very little plot and a storyline which is very poor. Don't waste your time with this.- Was this review helpful to you?
