Based on Scott Heim's novel, Gregg Araki's Mysterious Skin has twin narrators. As teenagers, Neil (Joseph Gordon-Levitt)and Brian (Brady Corbet) seem worlds apart.

Stunning movie
By a customer from Kent , England , 05 Oct 2005[Highly rated reviewer]
This film is the best of its kind i have ever seen. It is a rollercoaster from start to end. Superbly cast with the acting painfully believable. The film is very careful to stay in context and not over emphasise the graphic points leaving enough to the shocked imagination. my heart was pulled from scene to scene. As a victim of similar life to the lead role i felt strongly intuned to his life and truly believed his performance.
A must buy for anyone who can cope with the powerfull story and haunting visuals.- Was this review helpful to you?

(319)Powerful stuff
By a customer , 13 Apr 2013Shocking, uncomfortable viewing at times but a good film. Shame about the actress that plays his friend think she was in Buffy or something like that she is a bad actress luckily she isn't in it too much otherwise I would have not made it through the whole film!- Was this review helpful to you?

An excellent film.
By gingerspike (414 reviews) from Grimsby , 05 Mar 2013A very raw and vivid account of two boys who share a dark history of child abuse. It's a gritty exploration of human sexuality and child abuse, the tale being told by the twin narration of the two victims as they age from young boys to late teens. The film is haunting and extremely disturbing yet somehow vibrant in its imagery. The story is told expertly and pieced together in a very fluid manner. A must-see movie.- Was this review helpful to you?

Dark, gritty and real
By e_ovette (1 review) , 03 Mar 2013Dark, gritty and real. An intoxicatingly personal look at the lives of two different boys dealing with a shared dark history. It handles one of the most disturbing and disgraceful crimes in society in a delicate and realistic twist...leaving you with an almost beautiful air of saddness. Super acting, a must see film which will shock and educate you.- Was this review helpful to you?
