Good episode of a great show, on blu-ray!
By a customer , 13 Aug 2012[Highly rated reviewer]
Basically, if you're a fan of the show then you'll enjoy this.
If you don't know the show, the idea is essentially that three guys watch a bad/cheesy movie and 'riff' on it, i. e. make jokes at the movie's expense.
I would say that this ranks as a good episode of the show, not the best but still funny. And it is definitely cool to see a blu-ray presentation of MST3K.
This Island Earth (the film being riffed on) isn't restored or anything, it looks pretty scratchy, but that's not the point is it.- Was this review helpful to you?

(5)Cult classic stoner nerd comedy at its finest
By JJKH (3 reviews) , 06 May 2013One of the few feature length versions of a T. V. that doesn't let you down; in fact the movie version is superior to several of the regular episodes. Cult classic stoner nerd comedy at its finest; I watched it with two people whom had never experienced the T. V. show and am pleased to say they are now fans. That's how good this adaptation is. It also helps the format (a man and two puppets watching a film while ripping it apart) that the film reviewed, 'This Island Earth', truly is one of the worst films ever made. There are some genuine belly laughs in there.- Was this review helpful to you?

Uuuuuuurhhhh-hah-hah (that's the sound of vomit)
By Rigamortis (95 reviews) from South London , 08 Nov 2012No, the rating system didn't break. I really did give this half a star and I begrudge being forced to rate it that high. Basically, the world's weakest premise is used as an excuse for a man muppet and a couple of cheap rate glove puppets to sit around making sarcastic remarks over the showing of an old classic. You don't even see the whole classic movie as it 'breaks down' half way through.
If you enjoy this you have issues and probably no friends outside of your head. Or you've mistaken this for a case of 'so bad its good'. WRONG! This is so bad it stinks!
I could rant about the awfulness of this for a VERY long time, but it doesn't deserve the effort. I normally take 20 minutes over even a very short review. This only took as long as typing the words. Uuuh-hur-rah-harrrr!- Was this review helpful to you?

GIVE US THE TV SERIES!
By nORMObAZZA (1247 reviews) , 13 Sep 2012Danny Baker has been banging on about this TV series for years during his radio shows and, after a long wait, this was my first chance to see if it was as good as he made out. Nowhere near. Perhaps the TV series is, coming as it must in smaller doses. I like the idea, but the execution doesn't fulfill it's potential. I can see a British version with ,say, 'Adam & Joe', being a real hoot.- Was this review helpful to you?

Clever Comedy Done Well
By MrCookio (2 reviews) from Southampton , 25 Aug 2012The premise of MST3000 is that a mad scientist has sent the 'nicest guy in the world' into space and is subjecting him to awful movies to break his spirit. He is kept company by a few robots which keep him sane.
Having never seen the show I still really enjoyed the movie. It is funny and cleverly interspersed with 'story' between them making fun of the movie 'This Island Earth'.
This is a movie for anyone which has sat in front of a terrible movie and poked fun of it, something I am sure that everyone has done. or for those people like me which love terrible old sci fi movies. Also going for it is the fact that they were able to really give the film some stick without using any bad language at all.
For families and 'film-rippers' alike.- Was this review helpful to you?
