    superb..................

this dvd boxset is superb. the head investigator of the NCIS team, is Special Agent LeRoy Jethro Gibbs, who is played by Mark Harmon, he was a gunnery sergeant (gunnie), and ex- sniper in the Marine Core.

Catlin Todd (Cate), enables the writers to explain the intricacies of NAVY protocol to us, as she learns from Jethro and Tony. She is a grounded character, and with a background as a bodyguard to the president , is very capable of handling herself, both with the criminals and tony's advances.

Tony Dinozzo, is an established member of NCIS, he has an enjoyable relationship with jethro, who is something of a mentor and disciplinarian to him, but stands on his own two feet, for his undisputed capability, despite a somewhat juvenile sense of humour and pursuit of women.

Dr. Donald Mallard also known as Ducky, is played by the wonderful David MaCallum, he is the NCIS pathologist, medical examiner and coroner. His character is english, and loves to tell a story or two, from his long medical career, and University days. he is endearingly sweet, and despite the gruesome circumstances, where you usually encounter him, usually to be found up to his elbows, in some poor soul, as he talks to the dead, and cares for his 96 year old mother, who has Altzeimers, he is a wonderfully appealing character.

The Other major character, is the goth lab technician Abby. she is always amusing in her scenes, as she brings life and humour, into a job that has been portrayed in rather a dull light in other shows.

Abby's outfits are fabulous. in fact Abby is a real sweetheart, who brooks no argument about her science, knows what to test and why, and always comes through for the team. Gibbs is very fond of her.

Timothy Mcgee is played by Sean Murray, and is known as 'probie', particularly by Tony. he graduated from M.I.T, at the top of his class. he worked as a lab technician for NCIS. Timothy then moved to NCIS at the request of Gibbs, on a full time basis, as a field agent.

This show is a fine blend of forensics, clever plots, action and gentle humour.

The plots are full of twists and turns, you get enough laboratory and autopsy scenes, to engage your interest in the story, to follow the investigating leads with the team. The chemistry between all the actors is completely believable, the teasing, the banter, the infighting, the politics, and their individual private life storylines.

this series is well worth renting out.

Fantastic Series - Not To Be Missed

With so many CSI 'Clones' around it must be hard to come up with ideas that are original and still worth watching. Couple this with the fact that with this release NCIS enters its second series.

However, this program goes from strength to strength. If the first series introduces us to the characters themselves then this series delves deeper. We find ourselves becoming part of the family. The cases become more serious in this series and Don Bellisario shows us why he still is one of the greatest producers around.

If you rated the first series 5 stars then this deserves no less than 7.

*SPOILER ALERT* Yes, Gibbs can smile from time to time.
