A gang of women are committing murders right and left, and they recruit Kitty (Chingmy Yau) to join them. Coincidentally, the troubled cop (Simon Yam) investigating the murders develops a crush on Kitty, while twists and turns endanger both of their lives. Flashily filmed, with fight choreography that harkens back to the "Biff! Pow!" excesses of 1960s spy reels. Censored for many years, NAKED KILLER is a delirious Hong Kong mix of action, sex, camp, and violence.

"...An amusing action-adventure spoof....A live-action cartoon that hurtles forward at the speed of light..."
If you've ever seen this movie on video or television, you've not really seen it at all. The DVD version of the movie is the proper cut, all the versions before made absolutely no sense as they cut out key scenes and all the best action sequences! Therefore, if you've seen it before, it's worth watching it again.
If you've not seen the movie, it's an action thriller about a young woman (Chingmy Yau: City Hunter, Return of the God Of Gamblers) being trained by a martial arts specialist to become a professional assassin. She then starts to fall for the policeman (Simon Yam: Once Upon A Time in China, Miracles) that is investigating the carnage left behind by herself and her unhinged temmate. Think Basic Instinct meets Assassin or Nikita.
The action is top notch and very creative, even the most jaded western and eastern action cinema buff will still smile and go wow at some of the fight scenes. The acting is suprisingly good for a movie of this genre, it's not all punch and no brains.
Oh and yes guys, the female assassins are gorgeous. Unfortunately this movie has got the cheeziest soft porn flick looking cover and an 18 certificate to back up that assumption but the movie is much more A Better Tomorrow than Sex & Zen.
The movie is in cantonese with subtitles which might be a probem for some people but there's a dub (which this reviewer doesn't recommend) if that puts you off. There's also a commentary track which is very enlightening and interesting, so if you enjoyed the movie, don't forget to play it a second time with the commentary before you take it back.
A thoroughly enjoyable action thriller that is something quite different and special.
When I first saw this on video some years ago, I thought that it was a good action film with artisitic eroticism thrown in, but now it seems to come over as a cheapo sexploitation movie. Perhaps our tastes and expectations have changed?
