Brilliant
By a customer from Clapton, London , 22 Oct 2005[Highly rated reviewer]
This film was excellent, I would recommend anyone going to see this. It was a bit scary in places but Emma Thompson played Nanny McPhee very well. Best film I've seen in ages, with a fairy tale ending.- Was this review helpful to you?

(532)Great Fun!
By a customer , 15 May 2013This was a nice old fashioned family film which you can sit down and enjoy with the kids, it reminded me of the Disney films I watched when I was little. My 6 year old daughter enjoyed it and laughed in places, and I enjoyed it on a more adult level too.- Was this review helpful to you?

Nearly very good
By RodgerTheDodger (31 reviews) , 22 Jan 2012Yet another potentially very good film spoiled by poor musical direction. The musical director had absolutely nothing to say, the music was predictable. shallow and boring, but he said it VERY LOUDLY. Heavens, it was loud, insistent, over-bearing. Some of the best scenes were ruined by this intrusive rubbish blaring away, far, far more loudly than the dialogue. Very dis-appointing- Was this review helpful to you?

She did knock
By RJNeb2 (924 reviews) from London , 02 Apr 2011Children will enjoy this bright and breezy near-cartoon with Colin Firth as a beleaguered father of 7 unruly brats being helped by the mysterious and grotesque title character. Borrowing heavily from Mary Poppins, and set in a non-descript time and place (Victorian costumes, Day-glo furnishings, modern attitudes), it has a certain charm though ultimately doesn't leave much of a lasting impression. Emma Thompson is surprisingly subdued as the bewarted Nanny while everyone else's acting comes from a more over-the-top place. Top marks to production designer Michael Howells for his wonderfully colourful art direction though, best highlighted in this nice, sharp Blu-ray print. Certainly, Julie Andrews doesn't need to worry unduly.- Was this review helpful to you?
