Paisley & Quinto team up for Nashville drama

Country star Brad Paisley and Star Trek actor Zachary Quinto have joined forces to produce a new TV drama set in Nashville, Tennessee. The odd couple created the show with writers Neal Dodson and Matt Bomer and now the project has been picked up by U.S. TV network CW. A press release about the drama suggests the new series will focus on "an aspiring young female singer destined for stardom and a male songwriter whose career isn't as certain." Gwyneth Paltrow is set to show off her singing skills again as a fallen country star in a new movie, produced by Spider-Man Tobey Maguire. The actress, who won acclaim for her musical talents in 2000 movie Duets, will join Tim McGraw and Leighton Meester in movie musical Love Don't Let Me Down. Martin nominated for six bluegrass awards

Funnyman/writer Steve Martin has landed six nominations for the upcoming International Bluegrass Music Association Awards. The Pink Panther star's first album of banjo tunes, The Crow: New Songs for the Five String Banjo, has been a critical and commercial hit, and is currently atop Billboards bluegrass chart. In the nominations, handed out on Thursday (13Aug09), Martin was named among the best banjo players and the album will compete for the Best Instrumental Recorded Performance of the Year. Read more
