National Lampoons European clichesBy Waterboy (34 reviews) from Hertfordshire , 08 Apr 2007
[Highly rated reviewer]This was on TV and I watched it as I quite enjoyed Animal House and the first Vacation film. This was dissapointing and makes you smile occassionaly, rather than laugh out loud. The humor is based on national cliches: the British are either posh and over appologetic or fat and rude, but all obsessed with sex; the French are rude and obsessed with sex; the Germans are overly hospitable, lederhosen clad, violent and obsessed with sex; the Italians are all Mafia members and obsessed with sex; while Americans are culturally ignorant, unable to drive a manual car and obsessed with sex. So an enlightening observation of cultural difference and our shared obsession with sex, rather than a comedy, hehe ;-)

Great silly movieBy Sted28 (1 review) , 29 Oct 2011The 'would you like it in the can?' joke gets 5 stars on its own. Absolute classic. Don't take it too seriously like this lot ........ It's full of silly but great jokes.

The hilarious follow-up to American VacationBy a customer from Orpington , 16 May 2010
THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS Show review anywayHideEuropean Vacation is a funny adventure through Europe, and a complement to the first film. Clark Griswold has won on a game show Pig in a Poke a grand trip all around Europe, starting in England, and ending in Italy. A journey I'd like to take, although not in the way that it happens in this film! It's absolutely entertaining, how the film uses stereotypes about other countries. They make fun of the English, however when I watched it, being English myself, I wasn't offended, I took it with good humour! What I think was a little bit of a shame was that the kids who were in the first one weren't in this one, the guy who played Rusty in this film was good, but not as good as Anthony Michael Hall from the first film. The movie starts off with everything going smoothly, but then in spirit with the first movie, everything goes into utter chaos. It holds up to the tagline for the film, See Europe before it's gone! Chevy Chase is great as Clark Griswold, the hapless yet lovable guy who even though he screws up a lot only wants to spend time with his family, and enjoy the moments he has with his children, before they grow up and leave the nest, as it were. Beverly D'Angelo, is great, just as she was in the first film. Entertaining and funny, but also has a lot of heart. She is also a very hot mum, which is the opinion of many! Eric Idle makes an hilarious appearance in the film, and if you look closely so does Robbie Coltrane, as a tough British geezer. Watching this film also made me want to experience the cool night life of France. A very funny film, two thumbs up! highly recommended, not for someone over sensitive, and if you're not over sensitive, you'll have a great time. Give it a watch.

More Chevy Chase HilarityBy a customer from Kingston upon Thames , 14 Nov 2008The 2nd in the Lampoon series sees the Griswald family tour europe after winning on a gameshow.
Chevy and Beverly are in fine form , and boy is she sexy ! not an inappropriate comment as this film is geared towards a fair few sex jokes and themes like one particular scene where Chevy mistakelt gets into bed in the wrong hotel room with an English Woman thinking its his wife , when he learns his mistake he quickly trys to escape
'ooh sorry...my wifes not round here no..
'ok..can you unlock your leg from mine now?'
and as shes trying to have it off with him , Beverly is in the bathtub uthe man in the bathroom is not Clark and is talking away anyway!
Eric Idle as the englishman is hilarious! he gets knocked over by clark in a car and is ever so poluite and apolgetic about it , he then seems to turn up in france and italy too!
Gawky Rusty is a great player too , not too sure about the girl who plays Audrey in this one shes a bit too irritating and grumpy looking. Maybe thats why she was chosen but I didnt like her .
The music is great throughout with good songs including Beverlry singing Hey big spender in a towel ! she has a great voice.
Its a tad predictable in some parts but it will still make you laugh .
I did not have high expectations as everyone said this was the weakest of the series but i found it amusing , if you like Chevy or the previous Vaction adventure you really arent going to lose , its stll a good laugh.
ANother good one for the 80's fans I think.
Christmas one is next!
