In LOADED WEAPON 1, National Lampoon spoofs box office hits such as SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, BASIC INSTINCT, and, most obviously, the LETHAL WEAPON series. Emilio Estevez and Samuel L. Jackson head up a comic cast that also includes Jon Lovitz, William Shatner, Tim Curry, Denis Leary, and F. Murray Abraham. And watch for the Bruce .. Read more

This bid by the National Lampoon team to cash in with some Naked Gun-style spoofery lacks the brainless invention of the latter films, but still manages to score quite a few laughs. The Lethal Weapon series is its main target, with Emilio Estevez taking over the Mel Gibson role and Samuel L Jackson standing in for Danny Glover; a badly miscast William Shatner and Tim Curry are the villains of the piece. As well as Lethal Weapon, the movie also takes some pot shots at The Silence of the Lambs (F Murray Abraham in the Hannibal Lecter role) and Basic Instinct, but often the targets and gags are far too obvious. There's more fun to be had in watching out for the cameos, with appearances from the likes of Denis Leary, Charlie Sheen and JT Walsh, as well as James Doohan — Star Trek's Scotty — and the CHiPs pair of Larry Wilcox and Erik Estrada.
A new low in lame spoofery, this half-cocked cop claptrap conjures up even fewer laughs than the Lethal Weapon series... read more on Time Out
A lacklustre parody of the Lethal Weapon movies; it not only has no style, it does not even have any jokes.
absolutely excellent, funny no brainer pisz take of lethal weapon and other cop buddy movies, really entertaining spooftastic picture, sadly overlooken by the young generation of today, re-release this!
Stick to the Airplane, Hot Shots or The Naked Gun films. This films not as funny as it should of been.
this was a great film and a good action pack.
I like all comedy especially the micky takes of other films.
I'll freely admit to being a fan of visual humour and this film has been a favourite of mine for a long time. Parodying anything and everything, Loaded Weapon 1 is a real treat for those who like this brand of comedy, but if you don't then probably best to steer clear, as I can imagine it annoying people as well.

I remember seeing this at the cinema when this first came out and even though I laughed then the older I get the funnier I seem to find it. I do like daft comedy films and it still had me giggling away even though I knew what was coming next, A great film when you want something you dont want to think too much about.. I dont know why I still dont own it!
