This series has six episodes that cover significant events in nature related to changes in the environment over the course of a year. It also includes 'the diaries' from each episode showing how one element of the main footage was recorded.
The six episodes have a nice variation in geography even accounting for two of them being in filmed Africa. This in turn ensures the photography or landscapes have sufficient variation for the viewer.
The narrative is as you'd expect an illustartation of the harshness of nature and fragility of life that relies on these 'great event's' to survive. It illustrates the impact of climate change which is appropriate. My only criticism is the first episode, which heavily focuses on the polar bear has too much reference to this, in my opinion. At the end of the day its a balance as this is programme on natural history and not climate change.
The imagery looks fabulous in Blu Ray. I'd speculate that the quality of the high def cameras has improved since Planet Earth. There are a number of slow motion shots which look fantastic.
Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
