A brilliant piece of research; a truly frightning message from the past

In the league of 'The World at War', this brilliant exploration of the circumstances that brought Hitler to power; his bizarre management style; and the slow desensitization of the German psyche to state brutality, exposes how truly awful the human 'herd mentality' is. In particular, the public response to the Gestapo, allowing it to flourish, is appalling.

As an aside, we British have a lot to answer for in making the concept of 'concentration camps' acceptable. Watch this and learn what we are all capable of.

This will change you for ever.

This account of how the holocaust happened, much of it by German and Eastern European historians and journalists is in great detail.Eye witness testimony from both survivors and perpetrators reveals a deeply disturbing but vitally important account of the consequences of race hate. Most of the material is shown for the first time and includes both film and photography. If all you know of the Holocaust is Auschwitz and gas chambers be prepared for some shocking revelations. It provides the clearest insight into the psychology of not just the perpetrators but those who stood by and by their inaction or tacit approval connived in the greatest crime of the modern age.The scene where the aged Berliner is confronted with the consequences of what happened to the Jewish family she betrayed, simply to benefit from their removal, and her reaction to it has to be seen to be believed.

N.B. Before showing this to young people I would recommend previewing each section of the DVD.
