This is a masterpiece of horror cinema. Made on a tiny budget and released with almost no publicity, this was overshadowed by the more commercial 'Lost Boys'. However it remains one of the greatest vampire movies ever made. Flawless acting, brilliant cameos, moody, atmospheric, and not a mention of the 'V word', this thrilling story of a small town boy who gets involved with a bunch of modern-day vampires travelling across the American SouthWest is truly spellbinding. Redefining the genre, these are vampires at their grubbiest, their most believable, and their most charismatic. Rent it now.

Welcome to the day vampire films took the last steak in the heart of goth. This is one hell of a ride. Following a tight net vampire gang on a lust for blood and in the middle a innocent love more pure than the vampires evil ways. I liked that it was set in the middle of the dessert half the time for the time you did not see it. This a Kathryn Bigelow(Hurt Locker) film with the cast of aliens who asked her husband at the time James Cameron(Terminator,The Abyss) to lend her the actors, and to be honest I like this over Aliens anyday.

AWESOME and essential vampire movie. Another example why the 80s was the best decade.

Not an out and out horror and no gothic - so some will be put off - but it's worth it just for the bar scene and Bill Paxton stealing the scene.

A contempory love story set against a vampire backdrop set against a cowboy setting. Boy gets bit by cute girl and is on his way to becoming a vampire. He's picked up by the girl's 'family' and is taken on a trip - where eitehr he kills and becomes a full vampire or they kill him.

If you're sick of Twlight, give it a whirl.

It is rare to see a 'vampire film' without the fangs and the tired revelation of the protagonist uttering 'your a Vampire.... ect' But yes indeedy it can happen and it does in this peacher. All you need is something sharp such as a butterfly knief and you are sorted to drain the humans of the precious crimson liquid.

The use of this folkloric creature for a subject in film is over used or perhaps abused (which gives the appearance of over use) but there are great films involving the use of the blood drinker and this is one of them.

This is a vampire film just the way I like it. It's one that doesn't take itself too seriously like some other dissapointments (Interview with a vampire, twighlight, Bram Stokers). What I like most of all about this film is its atmosphere and style. The roles are played very hard and gritty. The effects are kept to a minimum and the great storyline does the talking.
