This 1980s horror landmark — an undead revamp of Bonnie and Clyde — is one of the best vampire movies ever made. Adrian Pasdar stars as the luckless farm boy inducted by seductive Jenny Wright into her itinerant family of gangster bloodsuckers, who manage to keep one step ahead of the law and daylight. Director Kathryn Bigelow blends the road movie, the western and the horror genres into one visually stunning and frightening package, spinning a genuinely scary tale that slickly examines the violent lifestyle of the outlaw gang. Along for the ride are Lance Henriksen and Bill Paxton, who give standout degenerate performances.

80's gak i'm afraid, terrible acting, unbelievably cliched plot, a waste of time. The ending is hilarious though, utterly ridiculous.......i'd rather set myself on fire.
this is a great film, very stylishly executed, with great character development(unusual for a 'horror' film),a blinding sountrack by tangerine dream too.definately recommended to film buffs everywhere.
I think my title is better, and it's more relevant to the film. A farm boy gets bitten at night by a girl he tries it on with. Then he starts to turn. This isn't the kind of turning into a vampire you've seen before, it's far more of a sickness which displays all the folklore symptoms of vampirism. This is the most conceptually perfect vampire film I have ever seen, however the film now suffers from its age and the pace is somewhat pedestrian in our post MTV world. It is a recognised classic of the genre, and no self respecting vampire movie lover should not have seen it. The end is tremendous, and believable. Pace and music set this movie in the 1980's even if it's not immediately obvious in the setting.

Not the horror movie I thought it could have been. I hate vampire movies as a rule, but this didn't kill the concept as most modern movies tend to. A good balance between story, plot and vampire qualities. Unfortunately this doesn't make up for it's monotonous viewing. As I said, disappointing!

I really liked this film, it's flawed in places but when it's good it's really good.
worst film ive seen for a long time
The film has a great concept; a twist on the usual vampire story, bring it to a modern day, mid-west set, layering the plot with old and new ideas.
However good the concept, the delivery is sooo poor. The storyline is disjointed, some of the acting is timid to say the least and the execution of the final scene is so unbelievable it makes you wonder did the writers/producers just give up?
Overall a real shame, the basic premise for the film had the potential of cult status on a par with 'The Lost Boys', but the execution was ham fisted without control of continunity.
I read the hype and was looking forward to "one of the best films of it's genre" only to be a bit disappointed. Whilst Bill Paxton gave a stunningly mad performance as his character, the plot and conclusion were weak. I should have known better I suppose, than to trust the hype...just my view, of course.
This is for the 90s generation and the story is a nice take on the conventional vampire story. It has a great soundtrack from Tangeine Dreams and is thoroughly entertaining throughout. It won't make you jumo, but then it wasn't supposed to. Not quite The Lost Boys, but in that genre it is a close second.
hated it slow boring and nothing new only wached half though to be fair but not for me a vamp movie fanatic

Fast moving, moderately successful attempt to bring the vampire movie screaming into the 20th century.
