Ned Kelly, arguably Australia's favourite son is brought back to life courtesy of Heath Ledger. Although there are the odd bits here and there that would not stand up to closer scrutiny by the historians, it really is a film worth seeing.
The film portrays Lelly in a very favourable light and even though it is a one sided account, it certainly is worth watching. Rush is cast well as the 'evil' constable.
Where can I start with this one? I had it on on a sunday afternoon when the kids were out and thought I'd treat myself. What a letdown, it was as much of a treat as a burnt roast. (am I'm a vegetarian!) I have to say that I am not much for gun fights but thought the story of Ned Kelly was enough to get me through. The scenery, the cinematography and the direction was all good. Even the narrative was ok, but the accents of the irish gang (who had never seen ireland) were hard to look through and I never quite believed that the gang were all as brave as they may have been. Heath Ledger did a fairly good job alongside Orlando Bloom but not the best film for a treat. Hard to believe, hollywood style, ending (I'm not sure of the acurate text relating to the capture of Ned Kelly but I can't believe this was it!!) Only really worth watching if you are a fan of Mr's Ledger and Bloom, other than that, a historian looking for a laugh!
