i wasnt sure what to expect when i ordered this film but when it arrived and i started watching it i wish to god id never ordered it...the story line was rubbish and not only that to me there was hardcore porn in it which made me feel sick....normally i vet the films for my children to watch after..im so glad i stuck to this and they didnt get to watch the filth

Powerful Spanish underworld adventure/thriller

What a powerful movie!

Mean and brooding performance from Mario Casas, playing something not far from an anti-hero (albeit a majorly floored anti-hero!).

Great supporting acting throughout.

Totally believable characters.

A storyline with pace, with interest, with edge and with twists.

This movie takes you into the dirty world of prostitution, which you might think would be sickening, especially given that this is no Hollywood glossy sham ... the real world is there to be seen. And yet, the motivation across all of the characters allows you to take an amoral look into this world, to loose yourself in the storyline, without hating the main characters ... in fact almost the reverse. Despite the despicable nature of what they do, the three amigos are charming (in a raw and gutteral way), fighting the only way that they know how to get on in life. The prostitutes get through their awful experiences while remaining interesting and thought provoking.

Be warned ... not for the squeemish! Contains graphic brutality and sexual brutality.

And to those who gave this less than 4 stars ... my advice is to watch the movie again, only with your eyes open this time!

Gets too nasty for its own good

I thought this film had potential at the beginning, and there were a few times when I laughed, but ultimately it did not work. It is essentially an attempt to do a Guy Richie film, along the lines of 'Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels etc'. The protagonists are a collection of small-time crooks and misfits, who end up stepping on the toes of some more serious criminals largely as a result of naivety. At various points obstacles are put in their way, and they end up getting into even deeper trouble, so you wonder how it will all be resolved. I don't think we really need any more imitations of Lock, Stock etc., even Spanish-language ones, but where this film really misjudges things is the balance between keeping things humorous and having nasty underworld characters doing nasty things. It just gets too nasty, and having pimps as the main characters is not a great plot device to get you to sympathise with them. I would not recommend this film.
