EVANGELION, certainly one of the most popular, and arguably one of the best animes ever produced, is the rare sci-fi series that actually follows through on the ambitious themes and ideas it presents. The series is set in the year 2015, fifteen years after what was supposedly a meteorite struck Antarctica, wiping out half the earth's population and leaving the rest to contend with rising sea levels and the mystery of what exactly happened. Chief among the mysteries is the arrival of the Angels, an alien race possibly responsible for the subsequent attacks on Tokyo. This second volume contains episodes 5 through 8.

Still not sure what to make of this. There is definitely something within the storyline, something really meaty and mindbending. This disc portrays some dark dealing with the NERV project and the Eva's. Whatever the Eva's are etc is something. The discovery at the end of the final episode makes getting the next disc worthwhile. But there is a but. Some of the animation is just shoddy, I know this is old but still. Then there is some of the sideline stories that are just plain bizarre. I always thought Evangelion was a slightly kids manga series but the level of sexual innuendo is rife, all the kids are 14 so its kind of weird.
All in all still worth watching.
