LOVEFiLM Review
-
By Tom Charity from LOVEFiLM
Never Let Me Go sees first rate performances and sober direction, but there's something frustrating about this adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro's Booker-winning novel.

quiet and disturbing
By oolon (5 reviews) from Stirling , 01 Feb 2011[Highly rated reviewer]
I watched this film on a recent long-haul flight, amongst a load of others, some recent, some classics.
This one easily stood out - it's understated, disturbing, thought provoking.
It has many layers, saying as much about the main characters as it does about how the premise of the film affects them.
I'm putting it on my rental list, so I can see it again...- Was this review helpful to you?

(444)Sixties Dystopia
By a customer , 27 May 2013Very good. I thought the way in which it was set in the 60s but was nevertheless 'futuristic' was very clever. My 12 year old daughter loved it too. 'So dark'.- Was this review helpful to you?

Depressing and Slow
By CWMK (10 reviews) , 29 Apr 2013I found this dreary and depressing rather than sinister and / or dark with the low key performances - of individuals somehow accepting their situation without question - ringing hollow. My wife fell asleep my son got bored i stayed with it to a fairly inevitable conclusion- Was this review helpful to you?

Heart-searching and Poignant
By Seedyvee (187 reviews) from Grantham , 15 Apr 2013The film conveyed all the poignancy and sensitivity of the novel as I remembered it. Taken at its face value it says so much about what we take for granted about being sentient and aspiring human beings, particularly in early adulthood, but I'm still working out the allegory beneath the surface. Perhaps there isn't one after all. Very satisfying and sensitive acting from the main trio especially from Carey Mulligan who portrayed powerfully a heart-searching and poignant reminder of the issues concerning the drives and and ambitions of adolescence when faced with imminent mortality.- Was this review helpful to you?

Good film
By indiacat (11 reviews) from Staines , 15 Apr 2013I thoroughly enjoyed this film. I hadn't read the book so it was an interesting and surprising relevation. I thought all the leads were good and have deserved their continued success.- Was this review helpful to you?

rivetting and revealing
By ectonplasma (2 reviews) , 08 Apr 2013dark and spooky, but brilliantly acted and directed, and as unsettling as the novel, which the film does not disappoint; be prepared for subsequent insomnia, unless you are a robot.............- Was this review helpful to you?
