This series is like nectar to the old farts club.
3 ex policeman called back by the police force to investigate old unsolved cases. In charge of this crew is a stunning woman detective.
Heard it all before? but when you get James Bolam, Dennis Waterman and Alun Armstrong as the motley crew along with the feisty Amanda Redman you are guaranteed a sure fire winner.
For a nice bit of entertainment without the obligatory violence and sex you cannot go wrong with this.
If you have seen the first series then this is a must. you have the best combination of James Bolam, Dennis Waterman and Alun Armstrong who cause mayhem, with the stunning Amanda Redman keeping (Trying) them under control.

We came to new tricks quite late and have been delighted to have been able to catch up with series 1 and 2. But, now we have seen them all there is a great void in our lives until the next series is released. It's quite remarkable how a daft detective series can become a way of life.

I like the humour of the unlikely team and their unorthodox methods leading to results. Also very funny and refreshing
An engaging cast of well known British faces in a light hearted police drama. This series is ideal cup of tea and biscuit in front of the fire on a Sunday entertainment, some good verbal sparring between Waterman et al, the cast seem to genuinely be having fun together and this translates well, preventing this being just another cops show. It remains inoffensive whilst occasionally hinting at darker moments, enjoy it for what it is.
This is the very first episode of New Tricks. A great mix of comedy and relaxed sleuthing. Forget in depth analytical forensics. This is all about a group of ex police 'misfits' and their relationships. Great acting from a top notch team. 'Brian' is a revelation for his comedy and acting.

Very good watch of the old boys at work.
Best series currently on UK TV. Just hire and enjoy. Long may they make lots more series. Just finished airing on BBC1 was the 5th Series.
