Quack Quack

One of the most notorious horror movies of the 1980's hits DVD for the first time in the UK. Sure, the BBFC have trimmed a little under 40 seconds, but the sheer raw power of the gore in the film still comes through.
New York is under the grip of a killer who carves his female victims into bloody pieces. A bitter cop begins the chase to find the killer, who, when he calls to taunt the seemingly inept coppers, talks like a duck. Yes, a duck. He quacks at them.
And that is about it, really. Fulci, clearly revelling in shooting on location in the Big Apple, has a ball with this, and in his now trademark fashion, never shies away from the violence.
Never being a favourite film of the censor or the feminist groups, New York Ripper does exactly what it sets out to do. Show you a few murders, have a bit of a chase and then a blood soaked confrontation with the killer. Even with the censor cuts, the film is still seedy and powerful, much like William Lustig's Maniac, another bete noir of the BBFC.
So, if you like your maniacal killers to sound like Donald Duck, if you like your murders bloody and in extreme close up, and if you like your dialogue written on the back of a stamp, then rent Fulci's infamous sleazefest.- Was this review helpful to you?

Pretty good Giallo style slasher-thriller

Rubbish Rubbish

Load of pants!
