Set two years after the events in FRIDAY, NEXT FRIDAY follows a day in the life of protagonist Craig (Ice Cube), who must flee Los Angeles after neighborhood bully Debo breaks out of prison, vowing to beat him to a pulp. Craig escapes to his uncle Elroy's house in Rancho Cucamonga, only to discover that life in the suburbs is even more screwed up than in the ghetto. His uncle is into S and M; his aunt is a nymphomaniac; the neighbors are a bunch of gangsters; and his cousin is chased by a former girlfriend and a thuggish woman named Baby D. The fourth film produced by Ice Cube, NEXT FRIDAY is, like its predecessor, a buddy film pairing straight man Ice Cube with fresh comedic talent Mike Epps. Helmed by first-time director Steve Carr, who is known for making stylish videos for top rap acts, the film sends up raunchy life in suburbia from an African American perspective. The soundtrack is liberally sprinkled with thumping hip-hop tracks, including "Chin Check," the first new song from the rap group NWA in many years.

Rapper turned actor Ice Cube grabs writing, producing and performing credits for this follow-up to his hit US comedy Friday. Just as lowbrow in its laughs, but sadly lacking the original's darkish hue, Next Friday has Cube's street-savvy character hiding out in an affluent LA suburb where, thanks to a lottery win, his uncle is the richest man on the block. Add comic gangsters, a curvy señorita and a doped-up dog, and you have the recipe for some undemanding hokum that did big business Stateside. It may cut less Ice with British audiences, however.
Amiable enough romp, a sequel of sorts to Friday (qv), which ambles along without getting anywhere very interesting.
avoid this film at all cost the jokes are boring the acting is bad and the storyline is worst than both them put together
If you watched the first then you know what kind of humor to expect.
A funny follow up good soundtrack to
Rapper-turned-actor Ice Cube is set to avoid Saturday altogether when he stars in First Sunday, a new project to be directed by a playwright called David E. Talbert. Fans of the former NWA star will know that Ice Cube previously starred in the comedy trilogy Friday, Next Friday and Friday After Next, and Variety reports that First Sunday will be an "urban-themed comedy". Of course, Ice Cube has used his acting chops in action and dramatic roles too, beginning his screen career with... Read more
