LOVEFiLM Review Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist

  • 3.5 stars out of 5

    By Tom Charity from LOVEFiLM

Nick (Michael Cera) and Norah (Kat Dennings) only have their taste in music in common. A chance encounter ends up becoming the first date in a romance that could change both their lives.

  • Honestly - better than it looks!

    [Highly rated reviewer]

I really enjoyed this movie and might even go as far as to say it might be the Some Kind Of Wonderful for the i-Pod generation; its got a similar light-hearted, coming-of-age charm.

Plot rundown - having met in a club where his band are playing, Nick and Norah are thrust together by their respective circumstances and set out to find a secret gig of their favourite underground band. Losing Norah's irritatingly drunk friend along the way, they have a chance to bond and have a wee adventure in looking for her in late night New York.

Its got some witty dialogue and comic characters but anyone hoping for an out and out comedy should look elsewhere. Michael Cera's character is a cross between his in Superbad and Eric Stoltz's in Some Kind Of Wonderful and his likeability comes across well. You learn more about the characters as the night progresses and they both subtley endear themselves to the audience.

This film has enough in it to entertain both sexes, young and old and a quality soundtrack to boot. Recommended

  • Ok, not great

As expected by the trailer, this film is not great, but worth watching once. It is an unusual plot with basically not a single good looking actor. Worth watching if there is nothing else on tv.

  • Bored out of my mind...................

I'm giving this a half star because Michael Cera is a great actor but found himself in a really bad movie. I see that Kat Dennings failed to woo producers with this mindnumbingly boring movie and is now in the dire sitcom 'Two broke girls'......read the movie synopsis and if you still want to watch this, you have been warned.....I did however like the Yugo car!

American coming-of-age movie with an above average cast but average story. Mildly amusing in parts but all so predictable. The comedy not quite comic enough, the romance not quite romantic enough and the music back story not musical enough.

    Enough said.

Struggled with this one as never really cared enough about any of the characters-thats not to say the acting was bad-more that the script was below average. Felt like a tv series that you'd find on E4.

  • Painful - Avoid

    Rated - 0.5 stars

This film is painful to watch. Such a shame given the strength of the young actors involved and the potential they have already demonstrated in previous roles. The story line is lowest common demominator, puking, kissing, swearing. Anyone over the age of 14 will be completely bored by the lack of smart dialogue, humour or irony that the film appeared to offer by casting these edgey young actors.

Painful, painful and just avoid it.
