Eventually, the buck has to stop.

One of Kathy Burke's and Ray Winstone's best ever roles. If you want kittens and cute kids this film isn't for you - it's raw, uncompromising and ruthless in its telling of repeating family cycles, alcoholism as a disease, drug taking, verbal and physical violence as a means of expression and why women stay with violent men. It's not easy to watch. There are no excuses to be made, but the reasons are well written in this screenplay, and well told.
In any chaotic and damaged family, there has to be a point at which someone says, the buck stops here. This has gone far enough. What does it take for that point to be reached ..
