I'm a great fan of both Cecilia Bartoli and Jonas Kaufmann. This is essential viewing for fans of the latter as it shows him performing at an earliesh stage of his career. The performances are fine and the music is also delightful. The form of the opera is interesting, but unusual. The music is interspersed with a great deal of spoken dialogue. A kind of opera buffo in opera seria mode. The story is also rather impausible.
