Hurt
Brilliantly performed by all members of the band, Trent Reznor being the powerhouse of angst that he does so well. I think the tracklist from the albums are perfect, except from The Fragile, where Into The Void, Somewhat Damaged and the album title track would have sat better than The Frail, The Mark Has Been Made and The Wretched. Hurt always works as a tear-jerker for the last track, but since the official video of that track is live and therefore so similar (for when Further Down The Spiral was released), it might have easily been excluded. There again, it works as the last track on the DVDs, and I think NIN performances always end with Hurt, so it would be wrong not to include it. You make your own mind up.
The bonus features are hidden in obscure places, for example, there is a hidden performance of Starf***ers, Inc. that features Marilyn Manson, followed by him singing The Beautiful People with the NIN band backing him and Trent on backing vocals. This can only be accessed by pressing the enter key on your DVD player at the weirdest of moments, and it's only a ? second window. Apparently, as you watch Starf'ers, Inc., Marilyn Manson's face appears and it's in that split second where it works. Or you can watch it on your PC where you can jump to 'secret' parts quickly and easily. There are also two specially made music vids hidden somewhere, but I don't recall which songs they are or how to get to them without a PC.
The video editing isn't perfect and you can easily tell in places that the song you're watching is compiled from a couple of performances. The audio editing is unnoticable, so it's best to ignore the video editing, plug in your headphones or turn the volume up to a ridiculous level through your Hi-Fi. The soundtrack plays in stereo or in 5.1, but how many Goths have 5.1 systems? I know I don't!
This is NIN live, no videos no interviews.
If you want to see NIN in all their glory this film will make you pig-sick that its too late to get tickets (UK tour).
The camera work is good, plenty of close-ups on Reznor and the audience.
The music quality is excellent...
