Not Drag Queens but Nine Queens
By Avananda from Fife , 08 Dec 2003[Highly rated reviewer]
What a great film. From the start you are drawn by the characters into a world where nothing is what it seems and no-one can be trusted. This is not a film about Drag Queens in Argentina but one of the most cleverly scripted and well acted Latin American movies recently brought here. Forget "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid", this is a modern heist film which is smart and funny the way "Ocean's Eleven" was but it is much grittier and not as flashy. Take a tour through 21st century Buenos Aires and wonder if anyone in this film is anything near honest. Highly recommended.- Was this review helpful to you?

(115)Not What I Expected
By OscarFreak (415 reviews) from London , 08 Dec 2012I enjoyed this film, but I was concerned at that times that the plot was getting too contrived for its own good. The interplay between the two lead characters was excellent and the director kept the film moving but I wish some minor scenes had been dropped to expand more of the important ones.- Was this review helpful to you?

worth watching more than once
By jerym (34 reviews) from caerphilly uk , 02 Dec 2012Excellent film in all departments just can`t fault it. Have watched it twice now and enjoyed it even more the second time spotting the little clues in the plot. Some of the other reviews have a strong whiff of smug hindsight about them though. Highly recommended- Was this review helpful to you?

Should have gone to Stanley Gibbons
By Oldbloke (307 reviews) from Sidmouth , 24 Sep 2012Two small time Argentinian conmen, one an unscrupulous veteran, one a novice with a conscience decide to team up for the day, relieving various cashiers, waiters and old ladies of loose change. However, when the chance to make a really big score selling counterfeit stamps presents itself, they are both found to be hopelessly out of their depth. Clever, complex and frequently funny movie takes a while to warm up, but soon you are being swept along by events as the hapless duo meet with one disaster after another. Obviously, there is a sting in the tale, but who is the victim? Ricardo Darin seems to be a one man movie industry these days and here he is in great form again, playing a man prepared even to swindle his own family, but who somehow retains the viewers sympathy along the way.- Was this review helpful to you?

Wow what an experience
By MagicLife (3 reviews) from West Midlands , 11 Aug 2012This movie draw's you in as the other reviewer said from start to finish. The acting is first class and really takes you on a journey that shows you a side to crime other movies have failed to show with realism and a plot that takes you through many mazes.
Get this film now and enjoy you will not be dissapointed.- Was this review helpful to you?

Another story with a twist at the end
By Alex_P (10 reviews) , 19 Jul 2012Other reviews are pretty spot-on.
The characters are not really touching or likeable.
The storyline is convoluted and mysterious until the end.
I think that, basically, the whole thing is a bit flat and cold.
You don't really care if they are going to succeed or not, and when all is revealed, you are kind of not surprised or chocked, because you did not really care for them. You simply watched to see where all of this was going to lead you.
Then you go to bed and kind of forget about it.- Was this review helpful to you?
