    A Failure

This films has martial arts, car chases (50 mph on a deserted dock, thrilling!), intertwining plots, flashy editing, swear words, hard-edged females and incompetent males.

The trouble is that it does absolutely none of them well. The plot is unoriginal and the execution of the film in general so unengaging that it's near impossible to care about anything.

Usually I can forgive poor films if they have at least one moment worth watching, but this doesn't have a single one. The single worst foreign language film I've ever seen, and one of the worst movies ever. Not a single thing about it justifies it's existence.

    It could have been brilliant...

I love Tarantino's films but Jacky Brown is not my favourite, it's good but not brilliant and that's what I expect from Tarantino. 'No Blood No Tears' is a film about gangsters, money, friendship, strong women. It has funny and gory parts. But like Jacky Brown it lacks the 'wow' factor. It could have been brilliant but isn't. Still it's worth watching if you're a fan of films such as Snatch or Rodriguez's ones. Just don't expect to be amazed.

    So, it's not Tarantino but...

...it's still a damn good movie!

    Car chases? Check.

    Serious martial-arts arse kickery? Check.

    Just-about-well-planned intertwiney plots? Check.

If you liked Jackie Brown, you'll probably like this. It's not quite as 'cool' but it's a damn sight easier to follow! To add to the whole shebang, the pictures are GREAT - the look of the movie is clean, sharp, and actually pretty cool (despite it not being Tarantino!).

It's worth a watch, for sure.
