Exceptional...
By Hurdlemagurdle (79 reviews) from Scotland , 12 May 2004[Highly rated reviewer]
A film that shows the insanities of modern war without resorting to gimmicks, special effects or any particularly horrific scenes. The film sets up the stereotypes of war: the pompous general, the sargeant with a heart, the hungry reporter etc. and very subtly shows that no matter who the protaganists are and how absurd the situation is war can still shock. The last shots of the film will stay with you.- Was this review helpful to you?

Guilty laughter
By LehcarSnave (58 reviews) from Gerrards Cross , 17 Jan 2011I still feel guilty for having laughed at the absurdity of the situation in No Man's Land.
An excellent film, which highlighted the tragedy of a divided nation. Well worth watching.- Was this review helpful to you?

An interesting take on the war
By a customer from OXON , 24 Dec 2010This is not a 'shoot em up' war film. It centres around 3 men of opposing sides trapped in a trench, while the UN looks on, helplessly. Very enjoyable and probably tells too many truths...- Was this review helpful to you?

Highlights the futility of war
By Dungbeetle (503 reviews) from London , 23 Nov 2010Belgian/European film with subtitles.Intelligent and thought provoking story about all wars. From the fratricidal aspect to friendly fire to inept leaders to heartless media chasing ratings to powerless peacekeepers. Although it takes place during the Bosnian Serbian war it could apply to all. It is well paced and directed and keeps you watching the believable characters especially the comrade trying to save his friend who is lying on a mine which will blow up if he moves.- Was this review helpful to you?

Oops, great film spoilt by the Brits
By Oldbloke (308 reviews) from Sidmouth , 12 Nov 2009A world weary Bosnian and naive young Serb find themselves stuck in the same trench. Their predicament is played out with both violence and humour and is so real, you can imagine being there yourself, this must be what war is really like! Then the UN arrive followed by the press and we fall into caricature and predictability. Never mind, it's a fine film touched by moments of greatness.- Was this review helpful to you?
