With a plot reminiscent of The Karate Kid, this has Kurt McKinney as a young martial arts enthusiast. New in Seattle, he is victimised by his peers until he acquires an unexpected ally — the ghost of Bruce Lee. Almost charming in its silliness, the movie gets close to the so-bad-it's-good level but too often takes itself too seriously. I loved this movie as a kid and watching it again recently was fantastic! It really is a feel good karate movie with the classic matrix type plot: likable kid gets bullied, works hard to learn a new power (in this case karate) and then wins big (including the girl).
The acting is truly terrible and it is full of clichéd characters but that is a price well worth paying to restore your childhood dreams.
This is a classic slice of 80s Martial Arts.
It was a guilty favourite of mine so i decided to rent it. Low and behold this version has been butchered. All the cheesey american music has been replaced with some monotonous classical music which in no way fits the film. Scenes have been cut out, replaced with other pointless scenes, the dubbing at times is atrocious (and not in a good way). The quality of transfer is crap too. It looks like a bad video copy transfer at times. I was gutted as this was a 'cult' film in the 80s and the least the distributor could have done is use the cut which was released in this country in its VHS heyday. AVOID !
