slapstick film noir

This has a lot of the ingredients of film noir, gangsters, intrepid heroines, occasional quirky angles, tricksy photography not to mention pulpy aspects like women in lingerie.
But it never really feels tough enough or that sense of doom and inevitability.
The characters are too perky, the spiv henchman could be Private Walker from Dads Army.
Some of the final fight sequences would fit into a Marx Brothers movie when Harpo would knock people out with the horn he carries.
Reasonably entertaining but at the comic end of film noir.
