    In this all-American sports saga, Nick Nolte looking every foot the part of the professional American football player, now almost over the hill, and wanting to escape the steroid culture and corruption surrounding the game. Since the National Football League declined to assist in the production, action footage is minimal until the climax, but this turns the spotlight on the characters involved and, it must be said, the clichés about heroism, role models and the girls on the sidelines. Nolte is impressive, as is Charles Durning as the coach, and Bo Svenson is hilarious as a veritable giant of a player.
