This is one of those films that was so bad it was good. Utter bilge, this was so bad it was terrible. I could not believe the date the film was made.Whilst watching it, I thought it was a cheap budget film made around the late sixties - early seventies when amateur filmmakers churned out these low cost horror movies with their buddies. Then I noticed it was made in 1988!!!!! Also this was supposed to be the uncut version. No sex, no gore, just a terrible script and acting that bordered on the hilarious.(especially from the main detective, also he must have been about 3 foot tall). What was the censored version like? The ending was ok though.
I'm a real fan of those horror films that are so bad that the're actually quite good. This film isn't one of them. It's just bad.
The acting is bad, the plot is bad, the video and sound quality is bad, the special effects are bad.
This edition is advertised as being uncut. I can't see why it was cut in the first place. The gore is almost non-existant, there's no scares and there's no nudity (very surprising given the plot).
To make matters worse I had problems playing two short sections on my laptop with PowerDVD. The first section was where the tramp's explaining how Joe can turn into a woman. The second section was right at the end just before the totally obvious plot twist. Both faults caused PowerDVD to crash and I had to restart, skipping over place where the fault was. There were no obvious scratches on the disc, so it's probably just bad authoring. I didn't bother trying to test it on another player and I'm certainly not going to request another copy.
Not recommended, even to fans of bad horror movies.
