    [Highly rated reviewer]

Greg Araki (he of the excellent Mysterious Skin fame) directs what was described as Beverley Hills 90210 on acid and that's a fair description of what is an odd, disjointed but funny picture that focusses on the lives of several typically vacuous teenagers in Los Angeles. I'm not exactly sure what the film was about but the use of colour in the film was like totally rad and a few scenes had me rolling around a bit, specifically Jason Simmons as 'The Teen Idol'. A good effort.

I mean the film not only wasted my time.. but it wasted the planets time.

the director was trying to hard on a limited budget, and all you got was a cheap nonsense crap.. which left you wanting you money, your time and your brain cells.

the cast is made up of most the 90's up and coming stars.. who must look back on this movie and go WHAT THE HELL WAS I THINKING

This is an appalling film. Tries to be art house..fails. Tries to be titillating…fails. Tries to be entertaining…fails. In all honesty give a five year old a camera, stick an interesting colour filter over the lenses and you would get better results. Avoid.

Sadly, Gregg Araki is one of those directors who works best with an unknown cast, small budget and handheld cameras. Here, the quality of the film has improved, but at the loss of originality. He throws in the usual ingredients of pounding indy music, oddball characters and shocking scenes (the rape scene especially), but the addition of well-known actors in 'cameo' roles detracts.

Nowhere near as clever as it thinks it is, this seems to be comprised of American teenagers designed to be so incomprehensible, poseurish, self obsessed and, well, American, as to result in the 'off' button in under 15 minutes for me. I like off the wall films but this one brought on feelings of death and violence. To be serious, this one keeps you watching for just as long as you need to realise it's not going to get better. Took me about 12 minutes. If you like some very soft titillation and teenagers speaking in total dude-speak, bad hair and feeling old, go for it. Otherwise, get some 80s soft porn and watch Popworld for same effects.
