Not bad

This is a rather low budget film you've probably never heard of. You probably wouldn't consider renting this one, except for the fact that is stars Matthew Perry. At least that's what attracted me to this film. I have to say I was rather pleasantly surprised by this film. I would say `Numb' is a dark comedy with a kick. It's kind of like watching a Woody Allen film without the New York accent and the Jewish affiliation. If you're familiar with Woody's body of work you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.

If you're a Matthew Perry fan you're sure to enjoy it, and if not you'll probably fall in love with Lynn Collins in the role of Sarah. I'd say not bad...

Not So Numb

If you are expecting a typical Matthew Perry or Chandler type role then this film is not for you. It is funny in places but you kind of get the feeling its not supposed to be. Perry plays a mentally sick man thats not happy within his own skin, he tries everything to get rid of his problems but nothing works. He then meets a girl and as much as he loves her he feels nothing for her. His condition takes over his life. Before long Perry comes to the understanding that there is no cure, and the only way he can get better is by getting on with his life and learning to live with his problems. A great film and so good to see Perry play a character a little out of his box!

good acting, poor directing

5 Stars to Mathew Perry for brilliant (drama) acting. but the film is really boring, to be honest.

numb-tastic

To be honest the girlfriend is a massive friends fan so this was only rented purely for the fact it has that funny guy from friends in it, but boy! Once she fell asleep half way in and I continued to stick with it what a fantastic film it was!!

Perry is the perfect actor for this role, its sad to say it but he really does play the perfect loser that you just gotta love!

Lynn Collins I don't think I had noticed before but she was smoking hot in a cute way and played the perfect support role.

A real feel good film for those of us that feel a little insecure ourselves in life that there is a light at the end of the tunnel and it certainly could be alot worse!

Top unexpected film, great stuff.

it was ok

strange film, i thought it would be funny as it has matthew perry in it but he plays a complex and sad character which basically makes you feel numb yourself

A little disappointing. 5/10.

We both ended this film with mixed feelings and ultimately our marking may not prove too helpful when deciding whether to watch or not as we could not stretch further than average, 5/10. Numb tells the story of a man whose anxieties and a feeling of not belonging, possibly brought on by childhood memories/experiences, take over his life. Our disturbed star Hudson, played quite effectively by Matthew Perry, consults a number of doctors in search of a cure and falls for an attractive, and incredibly understanding, business associate in what is, in our opinion, a film stuck between two genres. Overall the pace is slow and we both agreed we might have gained more from this film if it had weighted the genre one way or the other, it was not especially funny, nor especially gritty, and despite a half credible performance from both the leads we never understood the attraction and ultimately never fully engaged in this movie. An interesting change for Mr Perry, not an awful one either, just lacked that something that made you feel for the characters and want to know what will happen next. A little disappointing. 5/10. 3 Stars.

Weak!

A very weak vehicle for an ex-Friends actor...not worth the time!

One of the wors films I have ever seen

Predictable, depressing, very boring, was going nowhere. No wonder I had never heard of it.

Numbing

Are you a fan of Matthew Perry? If you are, avoid this film! Numb does not show off his talent. It's just totally mediocre at best. At times, the film becomes dreadfully slow and mind numbing. If the director was trying to get us to empathise with the main character, he succeeded. Numb could never have been any good and it's a shame Perry signed up for it.

Not as numb as it gets

This film deserves applause for being different and interesting and is certainly worth one watch. I doub that many people would see it twice. It is a less well told story about mental illness than As Good As It Gets and does everything not quite as well as the above mentioned film. It is enjoyable and suitably under played but just does not quite pull it off. If this is as good as it gets then i would recommend watching As Good As It Gets.
