Boomtown or Downtown?
By a customer from Bognor Regis , 30 Jan 2007[Highly rated reviewer]
Bob Geldof's snooker hall hustler hero finds a rocky root in the Sweeney time London of the early 80s. All of life is there: cosy times with prostitute neighbour (character name) vying for attention with the smiling violence of Mel Smith's bad bookie character. It's not to be taken too seriously but is delicious for the period piece London backdrop that shimmers evocatively throughout. An enjoyable selection but definitely yesteryear's Number One!- Was this review helpful to you?
