Annoying fluff - beware addictive properties

At 32 I probably shouldn't even be watching this stuff. I think it's annoying fluff, *addictive* annoying fluff, which makes it even more annoying. Can't believe I fancy a 17-year-old boy. Gross.

    Roll on series 2!!

Excellent series. With gripping storylines and good acting from a mainly young cast this series is extremly watchable. It keeps you waiting for the next episode with great anticipation. A series not to be missed.

It gets you hooked before it turns

The story of a troubled teenager being 'rescued' into American High Society is not new but well done. The writing is stronger than many other US drama series and I particularly liked the dual focus on both the teenage and the parent generations. The acting is generally strong and this being a DVD version without annoying commercial breaks I found myself more than once watching 'just a little bit more' to see where things were going.

However, like many dramas of this type there is a problem with keeping up the intitial dramatic tension. The main conflicts are played out in the first few episodes and I found that things became rather predictable in a sort of 'soap opera way' as time went on. The bottom line is that I have enjoyed watching this but can't really see myself renting Series 2...

One final comment - as a 36 year old parent of two teenagers I have regained some street credit by watching this so maybe there is an excuse for Series 2 after all...

The best current US TV export

The OC is pure class. Lovely women, nice guys (so I've been told) and amazing storylines set against a far fetched but rather cool back drop. And the script is suprisingly well written.

And it has Jim Robinson from Neighbours! What more could you ask for? Watch it!

    I'm addicted

This is not the sort of thing I would normally watch however I happened to catch the last 10 mins of an episode and was instantly addicted. All I can say is believe the hype. This programme is fantastic. The charaters are superbly cast and each one of them has so much depth. The show also deals with real issues. You can be laughing at one of the endless quips one second and then the next feeling the same pain that they are going through. The show takes you on a emotional rollercoaster and I had to pause the DVD at time to deal with watch I just watched. You become fully involved with this show. I would recomend this series to anyone. Go on and give it a chance, you'll be very surprised and glad that you did.

totally additive entertainment in it's purest form

The OC uses the olde 'teen/angst/drama' formula. Yes sweetie rich people have problems too. In terms of entertainment the OC series works.( V well) This I put down to the spot on casting and the V clever script writers. It avoids the trapings of say Ally McBeal (too werid ), Dawson Creek (great more kids, who cares?) etc. There really is something for everyone. The six main characters/actors are an instant hit and are well supported- Seth doesn't get all of the funny lines, check Sandy & super-bitch Julie. Very droll. In a nutshell it is pretty much a Bitter-sweet twist of a ride right through to the end. Climatic episode 27 is such a corker, you feel like you have been rewarded for watching the series. Desperate housewives doesn't even come close.

It's consistantly fresh, the OC really is the only contender for the vacant SATC super series throne. In short rent it NOW muppet!!!
