Steven Soderbergh's Ocean's Eleven was a sharp, witty remake of a rather self-indulgent vehicle for Frank Sinatra's Rat Pack. With this sequel, George Clooney, Brad Pitt and company seem to have fallen into the same sort of trap. The lazy, convoluted plot has the smooth criminals hitting the robbery trail in Europe to raise the cash needed to pay back their vengeful last victim, casino boss Terry Benedict (Andy Garcia). Soderbergh gives the movie a hip surface sheen and there's no denying the chemistry between the starry ensemble cast, which this time includes Catherine Zeta-Jones, Robbie Coltrane, Eddie Izzard and Vincent Cassel. However, Bruce Willis's hopelessly contrived cameo is pretty much symptomatic of the film as a whole — a hoot for all involved but a little too knowing for its own good.

If there were no stars i would put that!!!

Me and a groups of friends went to see this at the cinema and thought it has to be one of the worst films ever MADE! I mean unlike the other one where it was slick and based around 1 job! this one was just too random, lots of jobs including rasing a house!! OH come on! gets very confusing and boring! Camera shots are usually long and un intresting, the camera came off it stand way too much that i felt ill. (you know like in Blaire Witch Project). And on of the worste thing was The Whole Julia Roberts thing! It made me LAUGH SO MUCH! My friend said 'This is worse than Babe pig in the city!'!! Its just so terrible!! GRRR!!!

    superb..................

this is the sequel to Oceans Eleven. it is superb. George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, and Matt Damon are back, with the new edition of Catherine Zeta Jones in the mix.

The heist hijinks of the first film come to roost, for a team of eleven thieves, who find themselves pursued not only by the guy they robbed, but also by a top-notch detective played by Catherine Zeta Jones, and a jealous master thief, who wants to prove that team leader Danny Ocean played by George Clooney, isn't the best in the field.

Julia Roberts also returns as Danny Ocean's wife.

the locations used in this film are stunning. they include Amsterdam, Paris, and Rome.

The cast seem to bounce off each other, and the film - Oceans Twelve has all the technical quirks of the first - Oceans Eleven, that gave that film, wonderful moments such as the Clooney / Pitt 'unfinished sentence' conversations, stop-motion cuts, and quirky music etc.

the Julia Roberts and Bruce Willis ( in a cameo role) 'thing' was really funny in this film.

it is well worth renting out.

    Steaming piece of pooh

An appalling follow up to what was a decent first outing. Disjointed, incoherent, poorly acted and far too busy for its own good. Only recommendable to the beauty gazers who will forgive Roberts, Clooney and Pitt for anything.

Possibly the most needlessly complicated film ever made. I have to admit I was slowly losing the will to live when the adorable bruce willis regained my interest. Eye candy yes, great film no.

How Do You Ruin A Good Movie?

You release a pointless sequel. You add a few more stars and some unnecessary cameos. You take away all that is cool and slick about the first movie and make the story line slow and uninteresting. What you get is Ocean's Twelve. Poor performances by all concerned and ultimately a complete bore. My advice is if you liked the first movie then stay away from this.

    The Pitt and Clooney show

It is ironic that a film that signifies all that went wrong with the original Ocean’s Eleven should be the sequel to it’s much improved remake.

The style and swagger from a couple of years ago has been replaced by a smugness that spoils any overall impression that this might make.

Brad Pitt, George Clooney et al return, Pitt and Clooney however take centre stage as the comedy duo. With the rest of the starry cast doing very little but filling in the gaps. The addition of Catherine Zeta-Jones does very little to glamorise things and the premise itself, the rivalry with another thief in Rome to steal a Faberge egg, is not a patch on the heist they pulled off in Vegas.

Steven Soderbergh directs very little, seemingly holding a camera and watching his buddies bounce off of one another while relaxing. Apart from a couple of funny moments, it does not make for riveting viewing, indeed, some of the camera work is so shoddy that an amateur wedding video looks professional against it. We even get to conclude watching our “friends” enjoying themselves at their wrap party for the shoot, at least, that is how it came across.

The remake was such a great film, Clooney in particular does some very interesting work, but this is a very big let down by all involved, especially with the amount of talent involved. This should destroy any desire for an Ocean’s Thirteen.

    Self indulgent

How dumb must messrs Clooney & co. think we are to accept this obvious vanity project, which does little more than give the self styled 'new rat pack' an opportunity to lark around Europe whilst getting paid for it.

Julia Roberts playing Tess playing Julia Roberts?! Oh please, I thought I had slipped into the twilight zone during that scene. How embarassing that they even managed to rope Bruce Willis in on it. He must've been bored that weekend and wanting to join the party. Avoid this if you expect the slick crime caper that was Ocean's Eleven. But then...that's just my opinion. End of rant :-)

They should have left it alone

I went to see this film expecting an enjoyable follow up to Ocean's 11, in the same style with the same slickness. However I was disappointed, Ocean's 12 is just too different from O's 11 for me. The time-jumping wasn't that confusing for me, I just managed to keep up, but my poor boyfriend was completely lost! I didn't like the abundance of long hand-held sequences, I thought this gave the film too amatuer a feel, not the effect I suspect the director was going for. And the whole Julia Roberts thing - beyond ridiculous!!! That really ruined the film for me. All in all this just wasn't as well done as Ocean's 11, and I think it would have been better to just leave it at the first film rather than degrade it with a sequel like this.

    Ocean's Thirteen anyone?

Ocean's eleven was a quick, hip, blast of a movie. Ocean's twelve is the same movie thirty years down the line with two failed marriages and a lot of extra baggage behind it. So to speak.

The same cast, yah. A bad thing in this case. There's just no room for them, this bloated sequel comes on like a vanity project for its stars and fails to entertain in every conceivable way.

The plot is muddled, the final act is just plain daft and i really don't care if the cast are having as much fun as they appear to be. The viewer isn't, where exactly do i figure in all of this?

A very bad idea and a very bad movie. Ocean's Twelve is the sequel to end all sequels. Let's just hope the stars don't feel like another get together.

No Ocean's Eleven but does on deserved to be panned.

When Ocean's Eleven arrived in the cinemas it acted as a breath of fresh air, a cool, adult movie that entertained both visually but also with a clever script. The film ended with the successful heist of a Las Vegas Casino leaving the gang to their riches.

However, set three years later, Ocean's Twelve revisits the group as they are forced to repay the money they stole, with interest! This can only be achieved by a series of heists in Europe whilst competing against a new foe.

Once again Clooney, Pitt, Damon et al. do a great job of creating effortless cool. The dialogue is superb and the direction fantastic (it is reminiscent of 60s movies).

However, it is the story itself that lets the film down with confusion setting in early harming the impact of the film. With many of the cast now only cameos Ocean's Twelve could be considered somewhat of a vanity project for its central players but the cool dialogue and great direction assure this film is at least worth a watch.

Perhaps the critics that panned it where jealous of the stars enjoying themselves.

A more laid back film - 3 out of 5

    Predictable!

The characters in Oceans Eleven had enough depth and humour to make for a very entertaining film. Sadly, this was not followed through in Oceans Twelve. Although a beautifully produced film, with stunning camera work and a great cast, I just found it hard to care about the characters, their progress or the outcome of their venture. I suppose it passes the time!
