Agent 007 is as daring as ever in the 13th installment in the Bond series. A maniacal Soviet general (Steven Berkoff) is about to cause a nuclear accident that will cripple Western Europe and make the USSR ruler of the world. In order to stop him, Bond (Roger Moore) travels by hot air balloon and folding miniature jet plane to exotic India, where the perils he encounters include a man-eating tiger--and the equally dangerous female head of an international smuggling ring. Maud Adams plays the fabulous villain, Octopussy. This film was released simultaneously against NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN, in which Sean Connery reprised the Bond role for the first time in 12 years.

Adapted from the Ian Fleming stories Octopussy and The Property of a Lady, this was the 13th Bond movie and is possibly the most frivolous (and certainly the most careless). The plot meanders more than the Ganges, as Roger Moore follows Maud Adams and renegade Soviet general Steven Berkoff across India and Central Europe. All the usual paraphernalia are on view (although the gadgets aren't quite up to Q's usual standard), but director John Glen (who'd been editor and second unit director on several earlier entries) never quite seems in control of either the breathless action or the overly glib dialogue.
"...Thrilling stuntwork....Roger Moore is eminently effective in the Bond role....Spectacular aerial stuntwork marking both the pre-credits teaser and [an] extremely dangerous-looking climax..."
This film has it all: fun, farfetched, a few camp jokes but
some great moments of suspense too.
the bond movie is based on Ian Fleming's Property Of A Lady' which like it's predecessor are short stories and are connected so putting the two together and adding a bit more is great. there is a great moment where Roger Moore's 007 dresses up as a clown! oh, Bond has to recover a faberghe egg when 009 is killed. cool, thrilling and fun! entertainment bond and Maud Adam's second turn at a Bond film has her in the title role.
Not the Best but pretty good considering its Roger Moore
