(2)Not as good as the book
By Glennbo from Bedfordshire , 18 Mar 2004I am just finishing off reading Charles Dicken's Oliver Twist and had high hopes for this film version (the non-musical one).
There are few films that are as good as the book but this film was a bit of a let down.
Huge chunks of the original story are left out in favour of an over-saccharine performance by the little lad that plays Oliver.
I hear the musical version of the film is the one to see but I'm not keen on musicals so I'm a bit stuck there. Maybe I should stick with the book (which is as good as people say it is by the way)!- Was this review helpful to you?
