    Worth a watch!

A feelgood type of movie, it manages to be funny and sad at the same time. Saw it at the Cinema last week and had quite a few out-loud laughs, as did various other watchers. Being from about 12 miles away from Glasgow, some of the settings for the film were familiar to us.

    Excellent

Tells the story of a man who is layed off from his job at the glasgow ship yards. Together with his friend he trains to swim the English channel and at the same time involves some self examination for all of them. Loved it and would highly recommend. A great film for British cinema.

    Feel good Scottish film

This was a feel good film made mainly in Scotland with good Scottish actors. Made us laugh and cry at the same time. Also made us feel that anything is possible given the determination to win!

Peter Mullan and Jamie Sives are excellent but the rest of the cast is pretty good too.

Good script, well directed and filmed.

Maybe it was that bit more poignant for someone living in Scotland but should be enjoyed by anyone as the accents weren't too strong

    Predictable stuff, but likeable

It's not difficult to guess the outcome in this quiet little film, but it's all played with enthusiasm and leaves you with a warm feeling by the end.

The performances are good and there are some nice touches of humour. If you want to watch a feel-good movie, you could do much worse than this.

    Good, solid movie

This is one of those easily overlooked Britflicks. The story of a guy laid off from the shipyards who decides to swim the channel. The swim is a metaphor for all sorts of things, and there is a lot about relationships in this movie. If you're after shallow action, don't bother, but it you like positive stories, you'll love this.

A simple tale with a feelgood thread

A simple tale with a feelgood thread all the way through it. Ok some of the 'lesser characters' are a bit sketchy...bits of the story line predictable but it is a story worth telling....Peter Mullins is great..even my hard-to-please-husband watched it.

Good stories never age...they just change a wee bit.

    Decent

Difficult to get into as you don't really get a chance to like the main characters. So it took a long time to get into it, but was worth it in the end. Very enjoyable.

    So So

This is a happy endings and feel good factor film which I can like if I can relate to it, but I found this one a bit boring.

    Worth a watch

Nothing new to be seen in this movie but makes a nice change from American blockbusters. Some of the sub-plots are a little cliched and seem to always turn up in these types of movie. Estranged fathers/sons and men being thrown on the heap past a certain age.

Still it does have a nice message - no matter what your age there is always a new challenge and life is there to be lived.
