Whether children will take on board the ecological message contained in this musical animation is open to debate, especially as the tone of the politically correct tale is often rather preachy. However, the “furlings” who venture out into the big bad world to find the herbs needed to save one of their sickly playmates are cute and courageous, and their encounters with some unthinking humans and menacing machines should keep youngsters on the edge of their seats. Sadly, in common with so many non-Disney cartoons, the standard of the songs is poor and the animation lacks magic.

  • "...The furlings are genuinely appealing....[Cornelius] quickly emerges as a thoroughly lovable source of wisdom and guidance..."

    Eco-friendly?

Well my kids enjoyed this film (if a little short at just over an hour). But i am unclear at to which age group this is amied at.It is quite heavy on the 'don't destroy the envoirment'level which i'm not sure my children understood.Michael Crawford is pleasing as the main character though.

    :)

This film for me was a childhood favourite. & I throughly enjoyed it the 100th time round, as i wore the video of it out when i were younger.

Its a story of great friendship and determination, its a shame its only just over an hour.

My little boyed enjoyed it as much as i did

    =D
