Most helpful review
definatly worth a watch
By krustyemma (2 reviews) , 26 Aug 2011[Highly rated reviewer]
i loved this book its only the second book thats ever made me cry the first being a thousand splendid suns 'trauma', as always a film never truly captures what a book has given us but thats to be expected as theres not enough time but on the whole this film delivered for me and i took my 73year old mum who hadn,t read the book and she really enjoyed it and proved that even though its not from her era a love story really is timeless, jim sturgess is my new bedtime lover and although anne hathaway has the most dodgy leeds accent you,ve ever heard shes still really endearing in the role of emma, definatly worth a watch- Was this review helpful to you?

(57)20 year love affair
By RJNeb2 (922 reviews) from London , 06 May 2013One day we'll get a romantic drama where the protagonists actually feel real and not in this case where he is a TV presenter and she jacks in her teaching job to move to Paris to be a writer. Just like real life. As these things go, this is not unendurable. Hathaway's Yorkshire accent wavers a lot but she still brings a great deal of warmth to her role, while Sturgess' character is a creep for pretty much most of the running time. Focussing on the same day over a period of 20+ years, it's an agreeable enough way to pass the time and should keep the numerous fans of the ubiquitous book fairly happy.- Was this review helpful to you?

painfully slow
By a customer , 16 Apr 2013Very disappointed. It was very dull and slow. Ann Hathaway's accent was very distracting, as it fluctuated between broad yorkshire and clipped southern tones. I gave up in the end and put it back in the post- Was this review helpful to you?
