British cinema has had some embarrassing blots on its copybook, but it's hard to think of many more shoddily inept outings than writer/director Chris Cooke's feature debut. Stripped of their licenses for drink driving, boy racer Greg Chisholm, cabbie Mark Devenport, salesman Rupert Procter and wealthy entrepreneur Hywel Bennett refuse to take their rehabilitation classes seriously and end up putting the world to rights in the local pub. The dire proceedings culminate in a drunken confrontation at Bennett's mansion, but the majority of the audience will have long ceased to care about these vulgar losers or their miserable lives.

    Switched off after thirty minutes.

Coppola: De Niro hungrier than Nicholson

    • 22 Oct 2007

Speaking at the Rome Film Festival, where his latest feature Youth Without Youth has premiered to mixed reactions, the Oscar-winning director said that he was "astonished" that his remarks had been taken out of context. "I was astonished because it wasn't true, and I have nothing but respect and admiration [for them]," he said.... Read more
