    Clark Gable, on loan to Paramount from MGM, co-stars with Carole Lombard in this tale of romance between a shady New York gambler and a librarian in the small town where he hides out. Wesley Ruggles directs an essentially routine script, elevated by the personalities of the attractive stars and the evident chemistry between them. (They would marry a few years later.) Dorothy Mackaill is the jealous woman whose threats to destroy Gable have a beneficial outcome.
