Moonstruck director Norman Jewison successfully mines the same territory with this delicious “Cinderella Italian-style” romantic comedy. Following the prophecy of a childhood Ouija game, Pittsburgh schoolteacher Marisa Tomei runs out on her wedding and goes to Rome to find the man of her dreams. There she meets shoe salesman Robert Downey Jr, who may or may not fit the bill. The pairing of Tomei and Downey Jr works like a charm: both inject scintillating substance into an unashamedly lightweight affair through their winning chemistry. Billy Zane is also on hand to provide a neat twist in the tale, and the lush Italian scenery will have you changing your holiday plans to head for the idyllic town of Positano.

Sugary, glossy, nostalgic romantic comedy that deliberately harks back to the 50s Roman Holiday, starring Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck, and which seems even more old-fashioned.

    Perfect!

This is the nicest romcom you are likely to see. It's wonderfully romantic, very funny, endearing to the final scene, and set in some of the most beautiful locations in Italy. Marisa Tomei does a great job, Robert Downey even better, and the on-screen chemistry is apparent throughout. Billy Zane's hilarious brief appearance alone makes the movie worth a watch. The plot is simple yet unexpected and will have you glued to your seat till the very end. Brilliant.

    frothy, light and enjoyable

Not the most intellectually stimulating of films but perfect for when your in the mood for something a little predictable but nonetheless funny and heartwarming. Good performances throughout. The twists aren't exactly hard to spot but if you just relax and go with the flow its good fun.

One of my favourite films ever, not because it’s the best film ever made, certainly not, but because I just love it, and because it stars the wonderful Robert Downey Jnr.

It’s over the top romance, destiny, soul mate stuff! If you are a hopeless romantic like me, you won’t be disappointed with 'Only You'!

In a nutshell the plot involves Faith Corbach (Marisa Tomei) going to Italy, with her best friend Kate (Bonnie Hunt) in search of the mysterious Damon Bradley, whose name was spelt on an ouija board to Faith when she was 11 years old. She's convinced he is her soul mate and nothing will stand in her way - except for the charming Peter Wright (Downey Jnr) who falls in love with her.

Who will Faith choose? I think you will probably guess the ending already, but as far as predictable rom-coms go it’s up there with the best. Beautiful scenery (Rome, Tuscany, Venice, Positano) and soundtrack makes this film well worth the watch if you’re an old sap like me! A guilty pleasure - enjoy!!

    Light and enjoyable

A light romantic comedy. Good performances, fantastic scenery, set in Venice, Rome, Positano; a fairly predictable but still enjoyable plot with a slushy but happy ending. Great for a relaxing night in.

    Robert Downy Jnr

I hired this film because I wanted a light hearted film and I like Robert Downy Jnr. Only thing is, he was hardly in the film and the story line was predictable. Nice scenes in Italy though, and it was light hearted. Not a must see film.

    Really good!

Excellent film that deserves more publicity. Going on the 'to buy' list! Highly recommended by everyone here.

Really nice twist at the end too...
