this dvd is superb. Ronnie Barker stars as Arkwright, a tight-fisted middle-aged Doncaster shopkeeper, while David Jason stars as Arkwright's nephew Granville, who makes the shop deliveries on the shop bicycle, just like in the 1930's, but this show is set in the 1970's.
In 'Laundry Blues' Nurse Gladys Emmanuel tells Arkwright that he must buy a new washing machine. he is forced to come up with an ingenious plan to keep her happy, and leave his savings undisturbed.
In 'The Reluctant Traveller' Nurse Gladys Emmanuel and Arkwright, are finally going to spend the night together at a hotel, in separate rooms of course, but with an over-tight money belt.
In 'Fig Biscuits and Inspirational Toilet Rolls' Arkwrights marketing genius comes to the fore, as he tries to shift some over-stocked items.
In 'The New Suit' Arkwright has to buy a new suit on Nurse Gladys Emmanuels say-so.
In 'Arkwrights Mobile Store' Arkwright proves his ambition by expanding the business, he buys an old ice-cream van.
In 'Shedding at the Wedding' Arkwrights wedding suit smells of mothballs. Hanging his trousers out of Gladys car was never going to be a good idea.
In 'St. Alberts Day' Arkwright invents a saints day, so that Granville can check the pockets of a foreign visitor who he suspects of shoplifting.
this is a timeless classic british comedy. Ronnie Barker and David jason are wonderful in the roles of Arkwright and Granville. When Arkwright is not saying Granville, f-fetch your cloth, he is making moves on his neighbour- Gladys,as cheaply as possible, of course.
this dvd is well worth renting out.
