The woods is no place for a bear!

A grizzly bear named Boog, domesticated by a park ranger, Beth, helps deer friend Elliot escape from Shaw, a hunter with a very curious mullet. When the Elliot decides to return the favour to help Boog escape from Beth he finds that Boog is very happy with his domesticated home. After a misunderstanding, Beth is convinced that Boog is reverting to his wild nature and releases him in the woods just as hunting season begins.

This animated film is not bad, maybe even quite good but it doesn't quite compare to any of the many other films such as Finding Nemo, Flushed Away or Shrek. The animation was quite...interesting, different from many other films. The voices were fine, the plot was reasonably thin but t still kept me entertained for the duration of the film and the kids thought it was great.

    Shooting season

This film is a bout a bear that goes back into the wild after leading a comfortable life in someones garage, only to find things are tough on the outside. This is not a great cartoon film. A very average movie really, that could have done with a better script, better voices and better characters. Kids liked it, hence 2 stars.

Good film for the whole family

A domesticated bear has his world turned upside down by a meddling elk or deer. He finds himself out in the wilds, and it's hunting season. He must learn to adapt quickly.

This is a very well made movie that is very funny and the animation is excellent. The actors do an impressive job of bringing the characters to life. Great humour suitable for all the family.

    Amazing technically

I wasn't expecting much from this movie, but I now believe this has the best quality computer animation I have ever seen! The textures, lighting, shading etc, combine to almost make it look like a 3D movie at times, and it's full of hilarious and clever visual gags! Maybe not a very elaborate plot but this seems to be more about amusing you with looks than anything else and it does a good job. At 1h15 it's just the right length, there's only a boring bit around the middle... Recommended!

    Fun...

It is fun.. But it isnt Pixar, the graphics are excellent, you see this 5 minutes in when the ranger roars back at the bear and his hair ruffles. It is a very effective animation, but, if you know what I mean, it doesn't have the kind of extra something that say pixar or etc produce. Its a great watch you should see it, and has some hilarious moments, but if you are like us, Disney/Pixar somehow have this market in a hat, their output appeals to young and old alike, and though others try, they don't quite match up... Open Season will appeal (possibly obviously) more to kids...

    Ilarious!

I 've just seen this movie at the cinema and absolutly loved it. This movie is very funny. Of course it's a kiddy movie but the gags are good! It's a bit in the same kind of spirit than Madagascar. Even if the storyline is short, it stays a very enjoyable movie for the all family!

    Shrek in Disguise

We thoroughly enjoyed this film - and the wining combination of Shrek and Donkey type characters couldn't fail. Predictable story but enough adult humour to go along with the kids stuff to entertain all the family.

    Goood!

Great characters complement a light yet funny script.

I'm not a big fan of either Kutcher or Lawrence but they did flesh out the characters and made me concerned for their well being.

The minor characters were given some good lines (the beavers) and some didn't need any (the rabbits).

If you liked Over The Hedge you'll like this.
