Open Water
An American couple, Daniel (Daniel Travis) and Susan (Blanchard Ryan) go on an island holiday to get a break from their workaholic lifestyles. The morning after arriving, the loving and rested couple, certified scuba divers, board a local dive boat for an underwater tour of the reef. The boat is crowded with other vacationers, and due to a series of innocent miscommunications and a distracted crew, after only 40 minutes or so underwater, Daniel and Susan find themselves accidentally left behind. Cold, alone and miles from land they're adrift in shark-infested waters.

The Blair Witch Project meets Jaws in this Sundance Festival hit from writer/director Chris Kentis. Blanchard Ryan and Daniel Travis play a couple who embark on a scuba diving excursion in the Caribbean, only to find themselves stranded in shark-infested waters with no sign of rescue. Shot on digital video, the film gains atmosphere from resembling an amateur undersea documentary; it's simple, short and effective because it leaves everything to the imagination. The fun and tension are constant: there's humour (Ryan blurting out in panic, “I wanted to go skiing”) and thrills both imagined and real, including the sudden appearance of a dorsal fin when you least expect it. Anyone frightened of shark attacks, or just the menacing sight of water lapping over the camera lens, can expect a full hands-in-front-of-eyes workout in this nail-biter with a surprising payoff.

If there was an option for no stars this would get it.
As long as there are idiots like me who rent this crap i suppose people will be allowed to make these films.
It appeared to be a very poor documentry style film based very loosely on fact. At no point in this film did i feel these people were in any danger apart from getting hit by the camera, they couldn't even come up with an ending at all let alone one that would have made any sense of it all.
Do yourself a favour and give this a miss.... -
