Bloody hilariousBy a customer from Norwich, England , 12 Feb 2004
[Highly rated reviewer]I started to watch this one with no preconception of what it was, and the opening scenes caught my attention. As the movie progressed I felt that I knew all of the characters in the people around me. The actors were perfectly cast, Colin hanks to play the lead, Jack Black as his waster of a brother.
This one has everything, comedy, action and above all a real story!!! Rare amongst modern movies.
If you are not sure what to watch tonight, watch this, you will not be disappointed.

Hilariously funny!By Brighouse1971 (155 reviews) from Brighouse, WY , 12 Jun 2009And a top cast!
The lead, Colin Hanks is so amusingly sympathetic and charming. He is definitely Tom Hanks' son, you can see it and his gestures and expressions are like his father!
Jack Black is also marvelous as a All-Time-High-Flying brother.
Plus some more excellent cast members!
The story is quite amusing but dont tend to be in going to be stupid or ridiculous!
Like from the real life!
BOOOOOORRRRINGBy munki4hed (5 reviews) from Sheffield , 14 Apr 2009Rubbish boring film, simply dont rent it
Oh dearBy a customer from Harrow , 10 Jan 2009What a poor film, does Jack Black only have one character role in life...??
Orange CountyBy Finbarr (15 reviews) from Milton Keynes , 14 Nov 2007A fairly mediocre effort, but you have to hand it to the director for getting Colin 'son-of-Tom' Hanks onboard. You get a big name unknown in the movie, and a dozen B list actors and actresses all signed up too. Ironically, having so many actors on board means that most of them only get cameo performances, with most of their scenes ending up on the cutting room floor. Unlikely it the film would have been made on the strength of the script alone.
It's not dreadful by any means, but definitely less than the sum of its parts.
This film is brilliant!By Becky Drage from Dagenham, Essex , 03 Feb 2007I absolutly love this film :)
However I do not recomend watching this if you are applying for University as it shows the tragedy of being rejected from your number one Uni that you had high hopes of going to.
Admittidly I watched this film after seeing the Foo Fighters video for 'The One' and thought that Jack Black looked hilarious in it! and after watching this, it has become one of my favorite films.
I recall that when the film came out it was a flop at cinemas, however, I do not think that it should be a film to by-pass.
It shows the life of Shaun Brumner, and his troubles with schooling, family, social life/friends and relationships. They are not too far fatched like some films which is what makes this film a joy :)
With Jack Black player the stoner/plain stupid brother, it provides a comic relief and a laugh all the way through.
I deffo recommend that anyone watch this film
