For I am Italian and I used to study the 'Orlando Furioso' at school (it's a epic poem), I was more than curious to WATCH it, for a change. Visually it was just amazing: it was a feast and a celebration to the baroc art. But you have to get used to the fact that baroc operas, like this one, were created as 'extravaganzas'to amusing, entertain and educating the public with high ideals, so don't aspect a powerful and dramatic music as Puccini's. And don't frown for the choise of the main character... or for the strangness of some voice. If so, I dearly advice to go and watch FARINELLI, for more explanations.- Was this review helpful to you?
