Orphan

The tragic loss of their unborn child has devastated Kate (Vera Farmiga) and John (Peter Sarsgaard), taking a toll on both their marriage and Kate’s fragile psyche as she is plagued by nightmares and haunted by demons from her past. Struggling to regain some semblance of normalcy in their lives, the couple decides to adopt another child. At the local orphanage, both John and Kate find themselves strangely drawn to a young girl named Esther (Isabelle Fuhrman). Almost as soon as they welcome Esther into their home, however, an alarming series of events begins to unfold, leading Kate to believe that there’s something wrong with Esther — this seemingly angelic little girl is not what she appears to be. Concerned for the safety of her family, Kate tries to get John and others to see past Esther’s sweet facade. But her warnings go unheeded until it may be too late... for everyone.

    Seriously Scary!

This is a really brilliant movie!I kept wondering what could be wrong with Esther and it kept me guessing right till the end. The movie has fantastic actors, an amazing plot and the end will have you holding onto your seat for dear life.By now you have read what the movie is about,so I am not going to go over that, what I will say is watch the movie, it will grab your interest from the start and the end is awesome and completely unexpected!

    Entertaining

I saw this film at the cinema and I found it quite enjoyable. I've seen lots of films like this one before, but although the genre was familiar - the actual story was quite original.

I don't want to give much away (there is a twist) but plot-wise it all comes together quite well at the end.

The actress who plays the little girl is very good, especially at switching between her sweet and scary personas.

For some reason in the cinema the picture throughout was quite dark/dull (i'm talking about picture quality here - not atmosphere) maybe they will turn the brigness up a little when transferring it to DVD.
